Workshop Description
Mind-body medicine positively affects chronic health conditions and stress, according to a growing body of research evidence. This four-week class offers cancer survivors and their caretakers training in an array of mind-body practices that:
focus the mind for healing and relaxation,
increase body awareness for better functioning,
calm the body and mind to decrease anxiety, and,
produce appreciation of the present moment to improve quality of life and mood.
These self-care tools can be integrated into daily life, and, when practiced regularly, create inner strength and serenity.
Mind-body practices you will explore:
Mindfulness Meditation: Creating present moment awareness to still the mind and promote healing.
Relaxation: Using body awareness, imagery, and relaxation skills to produce the relaxation response and to boost the immune system.
Movement Awareness: Engaging the mind body connection through movement to improve mood and general well-being.
Energy Healing: Stimulating awareness of healing energy to manage chronic conditions and stress.
